Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 01 Srinagar is the oldest and largest Kendriya Vidyalaya of the Kashmir Valley. It was established in the year 1967 AD. Since then till today it is continuously moving forward in the field of education.
Its geographical location is very picturesque, the famous Jhelum river flows on its right side, while the Jabarwan mountain range is spread in the front, on which the temple of the famous Shankaracharya is visible from its premises. The country's largest national highway (NH.44) passes right in front of it. This school conducts classes from Bal Vatika (Pre Primary) to XII. Here at senior secondary level (XIth and XIIth) all the three classes: Arts, Admission is given in commerce and science stream.
