Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Batwara, Srinagar, established on 1st February 1967, is one of the most reputed schools in Srinagar. It is administered by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, an autonomous body setup in 1965, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Govt. of India, intending to impart uninterrupted education to the children of transferable Central Government Employees including Defence Personnel all over India and abroad.
